How Close is Allah?

Dr Reda Bedeir

And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then, I am indeed near. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. (2:186)

Do you know how beautiful this verse is? He says "I am indeed near", not "tell them I am near". We pray directly to Allah and He answers instantly, with no intercession. He answers and gives, according to what He deemed best for us, although we sometimes, most of the time, fail to fathom the reasoning behind every event that has befallen upon us.

What makes it more beautiful is the fact that He doesn't need us, but He's waiting for us to make dua, despite already knowing the matters of our heart. He loves us talking to Him. And sometimes, He delays giving just so He could listen to us talking to Him again. Imagine that love. Overwhelming.

So take your time and have faith in His promise because if He could take something you have never imagined losing, He will give something you have never imagined receiving. Pray, invoke and call upon Him, for He listens, and always listen.

And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness]  (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness], they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!" (40:60)

Will you ever be out?

It's almost impossible to leave you out of my du'a, no matter bow much I tell myself that you're not a choice anymore.

Dua: The power in your palms.

When we make du'a, put the highest trust in Him. It is as though we're telling Allah, "here I am submitting to you, steer my life for me".

Sometimes Allah doesn't give because He knows what is good and what is not good for us. Taking a 2 year old asking for a knife from the mother as an analogy, the mother is not giving the knife to the kid because she knows it is harmful while the kid know not. Only out of her mercy that she is protecting the kid.

Or taking a 10 year old asking us to let them drive the car as another example. Do we let? Or do we not let? Would we have let them if they were 18? Of course we do. The same thing with Allah. He gives when He knows when we are most ready.

Well of course Allah is above all analogy but yes, sometimes we, as weak and lack of knowledge as we are, ask Allah for a lot of knives. And we cry and cry asking for it. And we throw tantrums the adult way when Allah doesn't give.

We think He doesn't listen, He doesn't understand, that He likes to put us through misery. No. He is the Most Merciful as He claimed and you know He doesn't lie. And only through time that we understand what we begged for is beneficial, or harmful for us.

Sometimes He purposely delays what He wants to give us. Because He likes us begging. He likes listening to us asking from Him. He delays because He knows, in the time frame in which He delays what He has to give us, we gain nearness to Him. We gain this habit of asking Him when we're low, and when we're high.

In short, put enough trust in Him and He will guide us through it. Let Him take the steering wheel, let Him take over. If it is for or against us, the matter will be facilitated or be made an obstacle.

Steadfastness.

Imagine having angels upon angels coming down from Jannah to you the moment your soul leaves your body, telling you to not be sad and that you have Jannah waiting for you. Imagine having to worry which Jannah is waiting for you once your soul left your body.

Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they Istaqamu, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!

(41:30)

That's the reward for continuously striving to please Him. He says "This is only the welcoming gift from me to you. I am indeed the Oft Forgiving, The Most Merciful"

Oft Forgiving, The Most Merciful. Which only means that the reward is for you and I, the ones prone to err & the ones who are given the best of gifts when we don't even deserve it. Indeed, the reward of being steadfast in your course towards Allah is immense and magnificent.

Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is (only) Allah," and thereafter Istaqamu (i.e. stood firm and straight on the Islamic Faith of Monotheism by abstaining from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and by performing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained), on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

Walk away.

Learn from the ones who walk away from those which are unlawful.
May we be among those who take heed from what was sent down upon us.

And when they (who call themselves Christians) listen to what has been sent down to the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised. They say: "Our Lord! We believe; so write us down among the witnesses. (5:83)

May we be content with whatever that Allah has decreed and yet to give.

❤️

If Allah can take away something you never imagined losing, then surely Allah can grant you something you never imagined gaining. (Quoted)

Make a lot of du'a, supplicate, give Him the best of your time, not what's left of your time. He promised He will answer & He promised through His most beloved.

And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. (2:184)

Glory be unto You Allah, the Exalted & the all-Knowing.

Messages

"What was sent to you was never meant to miss you"

All the messages calling us to come back to Allah was never meant to miss us. All the messages asking us to seek nearness and forgiveness was never meant to miss us. On the day of Judgement, we won't be asked only on the messages that we have acted upon..

And each person will be paid in full of what he did; and He is Best Aware of what they do. (35:70)

but the ones we did not take heed upon too...

And those who disbelieve shall be driven to hell in companies; until, when they come to it, its doors shall be opened, and the keepers of it shall say to them: Did not there come to you apostles from among you reciting to you the communications of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours? They shall say: Yea! But the sentence of punishment was due against the unbelievers. (39:71)

May Allah grant us forgiveness and may we be not among the dwellers of Hell. Ameen.
